Ghostwriting services

Turn your idea into text:
hire a ghostwriter
You have an idea. It could be for a business book, a memoir, autobiography, novel, screenplay or an article. But you’re not a professional writer or don’t have the time to write it yourself.
Let me help. Hire me to ghostwrite your project, from books to blogs and white papers to web articles. Why let your wisdom go to waste when I can write the words for you?
To get started, drop me a line. Tell me a little about your idea, and I’ll come back to you to arrange a time to talk it through. Your first consultation is completely confidential and won’t cost you a penny — just 20 minutes of your time.
What is ghostwriting?
Ghostwriting is one person writing in another person’s name. If you hire me as your ghostwriter, I do the writing but you get the credit. Your name appears on the book, blog or article, not mine.
What’s more, as the author of the work, you own the copyright, not me. And in most cases, any royalties are yours, not mine. But before any writing begins, all this is clearly set out and agreed on in a contract between us.
And that brings me, rather neatly, to my next point.
Is ghostwriting unethical?
In a word, no. Ghostwriting is legal because it’s a willing agreement between two parties: you, the author, and me, the ghostwriter.
So why hire a ghostwriter? There are several good reasons.
Why hire a ghostwriter?
Most people hire a ghostwriter because they don’t have the time or experience to translate their ideas into text. Or they’ve started a project but can’t seem to finish it. Or they’re too close to their subject and need a fresh pair of eyes.
Writing — good writing — takes time, practice and skill.
Hiring a professional ghostwriter:
- Saves you time
- Means you don’t have to learn how to write a book/blog/article/white paper
- Gets the job done.
And you’ll be in good company. Ever wondered how some of your favourite writers manage to churn out a book a year? Lots of established authors often use ghostwriters, especially if they’re writing a series. Even Jane Austen, Ian Fleming, Stieg Larsson and Alexandre Dumas had ghostwriters’ help.
What ghostwriting services do I offer?
I specialise in creative non-fiction (true stories that read like fiction). But I can turn my pen to pretty much anything. So if you don’t see what you’re looking for in the list below, just ask.
- Biography, autobiography, memoir, family history
- Business books
- Blog posts, web articles and white papers
- Editorial
- Book proposals.
How much does it cost to hire a ghost?
The cost of hiring a ghostwriter varies from project to project and ghost to ghost. For a full-length book, you could be looking at anything from £5,000 to £70,000 or more. The best in the business charge six figures.
Of course, like anything, you get what you pay for. Anyone charging less than £12,000 for ghosting a book is either just starting out, sub-contracting to content mills, or… just not that good. And you might find you end up with a manuscript littered with plagiarisms (gulp).
To be sure your ghostwriter knows what they’re doing, has a decent track record and writes from scratch to a certain standard, expect to pay anything from £12,000- £75,000 for a book-length manuscript.
I don’t have a set price list for my ghostwriting services. How much it will cost you to hire me depends on:
- How quickly you’d like your project done
- The length of the finished work(its word count)
- How much input you want from me.
But I’ll be able to give you a rough idea of the cost after an initial chat with you about your project.
So what are you waiting for? Tell me about your project. I’m all ears.
Why hire me as your ghostwriter?
Good question. Glad you asked.
I could reel off my credentials… I’m a published author with a Master’s in Creative Writing and over twenty five years’ experience. But what really matters is that you feel I’m the right fit for your project. Because we’ll be working closely together.
If it’s on a book, it could be for six months to a year, so it’s important we get along. You need to feel you can trust me and the ghostwriting process.
That’s why I’m transparent from the start. After our initial chat, I’ll be honest. If I feel your project is outside the scope of my expertise and I can’t do the very best job for you, I’ll suggest you look elsewhere.
Confidentiality is the name of the ghostwriting game. But some of my clients have been kind enough to give you a heads up on what it’s like to work with me. Their names have been changed, obviously.
“I’ve been meaning to write my memoirs for years but just never found the time. Charlotte’s fun, professional, discreet and efficient. She’s made what seemed like a mountain of a task into an utterly enjoyable experience. She quickly found the stories in my life, suggested a structure and best of all, what she writes sounds like me. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
Anne, Hatfield
“Professional, precise, a creative thinker with an eye for detail. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with Charlotte. She listens, asks questions that make us think, and seems to know what we need written – and how – before we do.”
Jonathan, Mallorca
“I contacted Charlotte with an idea for a ‘how to’ kind of book. I’d been staring at my computer screen for what seemed like months and just couldn’t work out where to start or how to structure it. Charlotte made the whole process so much easier for me. She not only helped me write and structure my book, she wrote the proposal for me and even came up with an idea for a second book.”
